Tech Sergeant Paul W. DeVoreReflections on this veteran's military serviceSubmitted by Faye DeVore
He was in Hawaii on the Big Island at the time the Japanese attacked and had been told to shut down the radio station because nothing was going on--it was Sunday Morning. So he didn't know they had been attacked until about 11AM and was told to get back on the air immediately! Then all messages were sent in code.
For nearly all of his years he remembered the Morse Code! He lived in Lakewood for 58 years. (Posted 2017) |
