Reflections on this veteran's military service

Submitted by Gerry DeYoung
He was assigned to the medical lab at the hospital at Fort Carson Colorado as a medical technician. I was able to join him in 1954 where we lived in a small house in Colorado Springs. Our first child, a baby girl was born at Fort Carson Hospital in March 20, 1955. We were able to do a lot of traveling and sightseeing while in Colorado Springs. It is beautiful country. Alvin was discharged May 15, 1955. We returned to Lakewood, California and bought a house on Eberle Street in 1958, where Alvin lived until he entered a nursing facility around 2011, and passed in 2017. I still own the home.

He lived in his Lakewood home for more than 53 years.
