Staff Sergeant Michael W. MurrayReflections on this veteran's military serviceSubmitted by Michael W. Murray
I resided in Lakewood from 1952 to 1970. Attended Lakewood High School graduating in 1968. Played football for John T Ford, Roy Woolbright and Coaches Stephenson and Collins.
My time in the USAF also took me to Lowry AFB, CO for technical school. Lowry AFB was among the first bases to be shut down by base closures in the early 1990s. After moving to Colorado, I worked for a real estate developer with offices on the former Lowry AFB. Quite a trip down memory lane driving to work every day and seeing the giant hanger that at that time housed the avionics maintenance schools. Today the hanger is home to Wings over the Rockies Air Museum. |
